Size & Fit Guide

A shirt that fits
only when measured.

Our ready-to-wear shirts follow a single, considered pattern — drafted in the Ginosa atelier and refined over seventy years of work. Read your body, choose your size, and where the chart ends, our Made to Measure begins.

Step by step

How to measure yourself.

Use a soft tape and a shirt you already wear well. Stand relaxed, arms down — read each value to the nearest half-centimetre.

  1. 01

    Shoulders Row 04

From the outer point of one shoulder seam to the other, passing flat across the back. The single most decisive measurement — read carefully.

    cm
  2. 02

    Chest Row 02

Around the fullest part, just under the armholes. Keep the tape parallel to the floor and breathe naturally — no holding in.

    cm
  3. 03

    Waist Row 03

Approximately ten centimetres below the chest, where you’d naturally wear a belt under the shirt. Snug, never tight.

    cm
  4. 04

    Sleeve & back Rows 05 · 06

Sleeve: from the shoulder seam to the wrist bone, arm relaxed. Back length: from the base of the collar straight down to where you want the hem to fall.

Fit notes

Reading between the sizes.

Note 01 · Between sizes

If you fall between, go up.

Our shirts are cut to soften by a touch with the first wash. When your collar measurement lies between two values, the larger size will sit more honestly after a week of wear.

— Half a centimetre is a kindness.
Note 02 · The shoulder rule

The shoulder decides.

If only one measurement can be right, let it be the shoulder. Chest, waist and length can all be adjusted by a tailor — a misplaced shoulder seam cannot.

— Trust the line at the seam.
Note 03 · Care & return

Wash cold, hang straight.

A first cold wash settles the cotton. Hang shirts on a wide hanger by the shoulders, never folded for storage. Unworn shirts can be returned within fourteen days.

— Read the care card inside the collar.

Beyond the chart

When standard sizes don’t quite belong to you.

Every body has its own architecture. If the figures above don’t describe yours — a longer arm, a fuller chest, a different cuff — our Made to Measure service drafts the shirt around you, one measurement at a time, in the same Ginosa atelier.

Frequently asked

Before you commit to a size.

Are these the body measurements, or the shirt measurements?
The chart shows finished garment dimensions: the shirt laid flat after pressing. Compare them against a shirt you already wear well, rather than your own body — it is the most reliable read.
Why is the chest written as front + back?
Our patterns are cut with a slightly drier back panel, so the front and back halves are not symmetrical. Showing both values lets you see exactly how the cloth is distributed across the body.
Will the cotton shrink on the first wash?
All our cottons and linens are pre-washed in the atelier. After your first cold wash, expect a maximum settling of around 1 cm in body length and 0.5 cm at the sleeve — already accounted for in the chart above.
What if I want a different sleeve or hem length?
Off-the-shelf, the lengths are fixed to the table. For any adjustment — longer sleeve, shorter hem, deeper cuff — please commission a Made to Measure shirt or contact the atelier via WhatsApp before ordering.
